The tasks we do at National Trust sites are generally outdoors and include tree planting, coppicing, and fence building. There is usually a bonfire and plenty of cups of tea and cake. You do not have to be super fit, just enthusiastic. To come on a task:- (1) Look through the program and choose a task you would like to come on (no need to join at this stage). (2) Give the task leader a call, ideally 2 or more days beforehand (leave your tel. no. if they aren't in). If you are unable to contact the leader, please call one of the contacts. With some events places may be limited, so please apply early to avoid disappointment. The task leader will let you know where we will meet and at what time (usually 10 am). If you need a lift, then the leader will do their best to arrange one. (3) On the day wear old clothes, strong shoes or boots. Also bring along a packed lunch and water proofs. The group provides all the tools and gloves as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. (4) Meet up with the rest of the group. The warden for the property will then show you what needs to be done and how to use any tools. We have plenty of tea breaks and lunch around 1pm. We usually finish at 4pm - you can leave earlier if you want to.
